During my time in West Texas, I fell in love with the region and rural Texas in general. The people were incredibly warm and welcoming. One of the biggest lessons I learned during my time in Abilene was that even though there are some unique problems facing our rural communities, rural and urban Texans alike share the same values and want the same things.
